Protect your passwords
August 14, 2010 1 CommentIt is surprising how many people use the same password for everything they do including their person web-based email like hotmail, gmail, yahoo or other, for online banking, for forum usernames and all their online related passwords. Doing something like this is very dangerous for many reasons.
Imagine your forum username and password is compromised, if you have used the same password for everything then your email is next for getting accessed followed by many other things such as paypal, online banking and possibly more. The same thing could happen for your affiliate accounts and next thing you know your payments for the next month are on their way to Vietnam.
A simple way to protect against these security threats is using a program that generates and stores passwords that look like this Ri7mAjFz
Get KeepassX
KeepassX is available for Windows, Mac and many versions of Linux including Ubuntu, Fedora and openSUSE and best of all it’s free. Yes it is another great freemium product.
KeepassX is fairly easy to use and you can encrypt your passwords with a keyfile and/or a password. Your 1 password will give you access to your password files and you could make an extra copy somewhere safe and have an original on a USB drive.
Do you use KeepassX, 1password or Roboform? Leave a comment
